Herberger Theater Festival of the Arts

The fifth annual Herberger Theater Festival of the Arts returns to downtown Phoenix on Saturday, November 1, 2014, 11:30am-5pm at the Herberger Theater Center Plaza, 222 E. Monroe Street. To commemorate our 25th anniversary, this year’s theme is Let’s Go Retro – 80s Style. The 1980s was not only an era of iconic fashion, music and trends, but also a historic decade for downtown Phoenix with the planning, construction and grand opening of the Herberger Theater Center.


The Festival of the Arts is a diverse, family-friendly event that celebrates the arts and our community with live music, theater and dance performances, great food, children’s activities, rescued pet adoptions, film shorts, tequila tasting and more! Admission is $5, free for children 12 and under and active military/veterans (with proof of service/id).

Live performances by Nick Heward, Phoenix Boys Choir, W.A.S. Inc. and Take Cover are scheduled on the outdoor stage. Theater and dance performances inside on three theater stages include ballet, Mexican folk dance, mariachi, Japanese Taiko drumming, American tribal-style belly dance, Indian classical dance and fusion, aerial arts, Flamenco, storytelling, tap, spoken word, contemporary hip hop fusion, jazz, modern dance, operatic repertoire and acoustic percussion!


The free children’s activities area will feature craft projects and face painting. Guests are welcome to have fun with the theme and dress to impress – 80s style (no full face masks allowed). Costume contests planned for children and adults. (Young guests are welcome to enter contest dressed 80s or in their Halloween costumes.) Free parking provided by the Arizona Center (Fillmore, just west of 5th Street.)

The Herberger Theater Center is a 501(c)(3) Arizona non-profit organization that supports and fosters the growth of the arts in Phoenix as the premier performance venue, arts incubator and advocate.
