Mother's Day is a special day that we celebrate every year to honor the hard work and dedication of mothers all over the world. The origins of Mother's Day can be traced back to ancient civilizations in Greece and Rome, where festivals were held to honor the mother goddesses.
In the United States, the modern version of Mother's Day was first celebrated in 1908 by Anna Jarvis, who organized a memorial for her mother in Grafton, West Virginia. Anna's mother Ann Jarvis had been a community activist and had worked tirelessly to improve public health conditions, particularly for mothers and children.
Anna Jarvis wanted to create a national holiday to recognize the important role that mothers played in society. She campaigned tirelessly for several years to make Mother's Day a nationally recognized holiday, and in 1914 President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation making it official.
Since then, Mother's Day has become a beloved holiday around the world. It is celebrated on different dates in different countries (in the UK, it is traditionally held on the fourth Sunday in Lent) but the sentiment is always the same – to show appreciation and gratitude for our moms.
Whether you mark the day with flowers, chocolates or a heartfelt message, take a moment to reflect on all that your mom has done for you over the years. From sleepless nights caring for sick children to endless loads of laundry and running errands – being a mom is truly the toughest job in the world, but also the most rewarding.
So this Mother's Day, let's take some time to thank our moms for all they do, and remember those who have passed on or are no longer with us. A simple phone call or visit can mean so much, and help remind them that their efforts are truly appreciated. I would like to thank Kim Webster. One of the best mom’s I know. Well, she’s kinda like my mom. She is the best Grandma I know. This woman has been through a lot and her son’s and myself have put her through quite a lot. She is a true example of a woman who has unconditional love for her kid’s. I truly thank you Kim and we love you! It has been very hard for us after moving in to our house which you know. If it wasn’t for you I don’t know where we would be right now. Can’t wait to see you in person because the kids have something for you. Happy Mother’s Day to all the other mom’s out there! Hopefully you are blessed with a mom like ours!
